WEEK 46
The summer started with a deep dive into THE VERY BEST BUTTERS TO BUY NOW and devolved into further carb-fueled quests courtesy of MOTHER & CRUMB. Between further investments into my precious garden (lots of time and this GARDEN CLOCHE) and multi-loaf mania, I’m teetering on the edge of becoming a full-blown #tradwife (complete with DENIM looks). Just kidding, I love my job(s) and our HOA precludes chickens.
That said, I do feel as though these domestic pursuits have had quite the influence. I’m gravitating towards things that are softer, more undone (this ONLY IF ONLY NIGHTGOWN), lived-in (a SWEDISH CHEST OF DRAWERS), and well-loved (this FRENCH FAUX BAMBOO MIRROR) — things, in other words, that show signs of life (like an UNLACQUERED BRASS WALL SCONCE, which will only gets better with age).
Without allowing this entry to devolve into a diatribe on design, I will say that I absolutely insist on decorating with vintage, antique, or second-hand items. Only once a foundation of story-filled items has been established should new items — a STRIPED PILLOW, a SPECKLED VASE, and a MAYFAIR LARGE GLASS HURRICANE, a LA FREE FILM “EAST COAST” PRINT — be added. Yes, this approach takes time, but it’s a fool-proof way to imbuing a space with a sense of character that new pieces — no matter the budget — can never achieve that.
But, I digress… And after a long weekend, it’s time for a final bit of R&R (BATH FOR THE SENSES SOAK). Cheers!
P.S. FRENCH BUTTER is best and even better enjoyed picnic style. I recommend FIELDBAR COOLER, PICNIC COOLER BASKET, YELLOW BEACH BLANKET, and ENAMEL MUG for the ultimate picnic set-up.
